BeatBox is a small drum machine that runs entirely in your browser. Switch on steps in a 16-step grid or tap the pads to play eight synthesised drums — kick, snare, clap, closed and open hats, two toms and a cowbell — then set the tempo, start from a preset and export your beat as a file. No samples are downloaded and nothing is uploaded.
At the top you have a transport bar (Play / Pause and Stop), a tempo slider and a volume slider. Below it sit four one-click presets and a Clear button, then the step sequencer, the pads and a save & load section.
Each row is one drum and each of the 16 columns is a step; every group of four steps is one beat. Click a cell to switch a hit on or off — turning one on plays the drum immediately. The playhead lights up the current column while the beat runs. Click a row name to preview that drum, or the × at the end of a row to clear it.
The pads at the bottom play the same eight voices by hand: Kick, Snare, Clap, Closed Hat, Open Hat, Low Tom, High Tom and Cowbell. Tap one to hear it instantly — handy for finding the sound you want before placing it on the grid.
The tempo ranges from 40 to 240 BPM and applies immediately, even while playing. The presets — Basic, Four on the Floor, Breakbeat and Hip-Hop — load a ready-made pattern and its tempo. Clear empties the whole grid when you want to start from scratch.
Export beat writes the current tempo and grid to a JSON file on your device. Load beat reads such a file back. Nothing is stored on a server, so exporting the file is the way to keep a pattern for later.
The interface is available in English, German, French, Italian and Spanish, chosen from the menu in the corner. Every sound is synthesized in your browser with the Web Audio API and every pattern stays there too: nothing is uploaded, logged or stored, which is why the app is marked green (Local). The counter in the corner is the same anonymous hit counter every tool in the suite uses. Questions or suggestions? Use the Feedback link — it opens the suite contact form with BeatBox pre-selected.
